Who is Product Marketing Manager & is this role for you?

I have been writing on Product Management and Product Managers a lot lately. In this story, I am going to discuss slightly different but very similar role; which is Product Marketing Manager.

A product marketing manager (PMM) is a business professional who is responsible for the promotion and marketing of a product or product line. PMMs work closely with cross-functional teams, including sales, product development, and market research, to develop and implement marketing strategies that support the growth and success of a product.

PMMs are responsible for understanding the market for a product and its competitors, as well as the needs and wants of the target customer. They use this knowledge to develop positioning, messaging, and go-to-market (GTM) plans that will differentiate the product and drive demand.

Some specific responsibilities of a PMM may include:

  • Developing and executing GTM plans: This includes creating a launch plan, setting marketing goals and metrics, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure a successful product launch.
